April 2019 update of the Top 10 Peterborough Petes Prospects heading into the 2019-2020 season.
Headlining the group without question is 2019 fifth-overall pick Mason McTavish. McTavish was an utterly dominant player this past season with the Pembroke Lumberkings in the HEO Midget AAA league with his tremendously impressive combination of strength and quick-footedness added to gifted stickhandling and supreme finishing abilities. Much like the Petes first-round selection a year go Will Cuylle, McTavish’s interest in the team is in question and fans will be nervous about the prospects of him donning a Petes sweater.
2018 third-round selection Jack Bar follows McTavish and is a question mark as well. A stellar two-way rearguard, Bar is committed to Harvard University and played this past season with St. Andrew’s College in Aurora. GM Mike Oke will have his work cut out for him to try and get Bar signed but it certainly can’t be ruled out at this point.
2019 draft selections center Jon-Randall Avon, defenseman Artem Guryev, and goaltender Michael Simpson are all players with nice potential moving forward. Fellow 2019 birth years Cole Patey and Tucker Robertson were excellent value picks who should develop quickly into solid contributors.
Forwards Matthew Perciballi and Jackson Kirk are yet to be signed by the club, but they both figure to be ready for OHL duty.
