Alliance Playoff Preview: Quarterfinals

Alliance playoffs

The 2017-18 Alliance Minor Midget AAA season saw a changing of the guard in terms of the front-running teams. In recent years, the top two spots have been owned by the London Jr. Knights and Waterloo Wolves who have battled each other for league supremacy almost every year. This season offered a different look with the Cambridge Hawks taking the league by storm, dropping just two of their 33 games. London, while not the dominant team we’ve seen in the past, still battled their way to a second-place finish in the regular season. Waterloo meanwhile hovered around .500 all year and will be met with the task of winning as the lower seed in their quarterfinal series.

This rare shift of power results in this year’s playoff being wide open. Cambridge will certainly be the heavy favourite, but after that any of the other seven teams should have no reason to believe that they can’t go on a run.

Director of Scouting Andrew Sykes and Alliance area scout Mitch Avis combine to break down the 2018 Alliance Minor Midget AAA playoffs, which is truly a case of “Why Not Us” – and it should offer a ton of excitement for everyone involved.
