SCTA Game Report: Oakville vs. Guelph

      oakville Guelph Gryphons

SCTA scout Mitch Avis was in Guelph last night to catch the SCTA regular-season opener for the Guelph Gryphons and Oakville Rangers.

He filed the following report:

Game Report: Oakville Rangers 7 @ Guelph Gryphons 3
Location: West End Community Center, Guelph
Date: September 13, 2017 @ 8:15 PM

#9 Tolnai, Cameron (Oakville Rangers)

Tolnai’s complete game at the center position was on full display in the SCTA season opener. Together with his winger Luke Evangelista they lit up the score sheet. Tolnai himself scored twice and set up a few more goals. He is a smooth skating center who creates offensive chances when he is on the ice. He has the skill to be both a playmaker and a goal scorer with a higher upside scoring goals. His soft hands in close to the net were on full display deking the Guelph goalie in close to score a goal. On another rush he took the puck to the net, made the goalie bite and fed a pass over to Evangelista for an open net goal. He has an ability to create offensive chances that, from a spectator point of view, you don’t even think are there. Defensively, he comes back and helps out in his own end and sees time on the Oakville penalty kill. He is a goal scoring center who creates offense every time he is on the ice and projects to be a early round selection in the OHL draft.
