It was a deep and talented field for the 2016 edition of the Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic Tournament, an event that brings a lot of the top teams in Ontario to the Greater Toronto Area. Spending time over the Holiday season packed in cold areas with limited parking on site doesn’t sound like that ideal situation but for teenagers chasing their dreams of being drafted into the Ontario Hockey League, it’s a prime opportunity to showcase their gifts on a world-class stage.
In a tournament that started with 51 teams, there were a lot of contenders who could’ve took the prize. Cambridge, Guelph, Halton and Brampton were teams who found their top games after an up-and-down season in their league play to advance to the round of 16. Eventually, it was the consistent top teams such as the Whitby Wildcats, Toronto Marlboros, Mississauga Reps, Ajax-Pickering Raiders, Mississauga Rebels, Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Toronto Nationals and London Jr. Knights who would advance to the quarter-finals. After some heartbreaking games between some of the province’s top teams, London Jr. Knights would capture a 3-2 victory over the Mississauga Rebels to take home their first tournament championship of the season.
Congratulations to the London Jr. Knights!

In addition, there are dozens of other notable performers (listed by teams) with candid scouting reports on their game play.
