SUBSCRIBERS: 2016 Battle of the Border Preview

BattleoftheBorder2016One of the marquee events circled on scout’s schedules each season has been the Battle of the Border Showcase hosted by the Ontario Hockey League and HPHL leagues. It’s a prime opportunity for teams to get local looks at top talent from some of the region’s top squads. Sarnia will welcome the following American teams including Chicago Mission, Detroit Honeybaked, Chicago Young Americans, Little Caesars , Compuware and Team Illinois – each of which possess some of the country’s top 2001 talents. Similarly, Ontario is well represented with its top squads from each of the regions across the province. The GTHL will send the Toronto Marlboros, Toronto Young Nationals and Vaughan Kings while the Whitby Wildcats (OMHA-ETA), Brampton 45’s (OMHA – SCTA) and London Jr. Knights (ALLIANCE) will showcase their talents as well. It will be a competitive weekend played throughout Friday, November 11 until Sunday, November 13th at Sarnia’s Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Our team of scouts including Brendan Ross (Director of Scouting), Matt Grainda (USA), Nick Tomczyk (USA) and Andrew Sykes (Alliance) will be in attendance to take in the action.

The following are players to watch from each of the entries. It’s important to note that the 16U teams will have several 2000-born skaters who, for the purposes of brevity, will be left out of these previews.
