Big goaltender Liam Herbst, who was in London with his parents and watched the Knights’ streak-extending 6-5 win over Kingston at Budweiser Gardens, is still recovering from summer surgery to repair cartilage damage in his knees. The Knights expect the 16-year-old to make a full recovery and London GM Mark Hunter indicated the OHL team isn’t going to do anything to jeopardize the long-term future of Herbst, who led the Mississauga Rebels AAA midget team to an OHL Cup title last spring. “No one wants to see this happen and he is one of the most competitive people I’ve ever been around,” London assistant GM Rob Simpson said after the decision was made. “It’s not an easy thing, but it doesn’t make much sense to come back for two or three months. Just take the time to get healthy, make sure and we’ll go from there.” To read the complete article, click here. By Ryan Pyette, The London Free Press, December 16, 2012
